Ethio HomeDepot is one marketplace for the Ethiopian building trade. Materials from suppliers with their own shops, equipment you take on hire by the day, and tradespeople who come to you on a date you choose.
What you can do here
They share an account, a checkout and a delivery network, and they behave differently because buying a tonne of cement, hiring a mixer for a fortnight and booking an electrician for Thursday are not the same transaction.
Buy
You buy a quantity
Cement, steel, fittings, tools and the finishing that goes on top. Every listing belongs to a supplier’s own shop, and each shop prices and packs what it sells — so a basket from two suppliers becomes two orders, each tracked on its own.
Hire
You book a window of days
Mixers, scaffolding, compactors, generators. The dates you ask for are checked against everything already out on hire — availability is the diary, not a counter — and the deposit is settled against the condition the kit comes back in.
Book
You take a slot
Electricians, plumbers, surveyors, finishers. Pick a date and a time from the provider’s own diary rather than sending an enquiry into the dark. Providers who have finished the platform’s training carry the badge for it beside their name.
How it arrives
When a shop sends your order out, the job goes to drivers on the platform and the first to take it collects from the shop. You watch it move, and you can call the driver who has it.
At the door, your order screen shows a six-digit code. You read it out; the driver types it in. That is the instant the delivery and the order are both closed, so the two can never disagree about whether anything arrived.
The driver is never shown the code. That is the whole point of it.

For suppliers
Register a shop, a rental inventory or a trade, list what you have, and take orders from anywhere in the country. Money from a settled payment lands in a balance you withdraw from when you want it.
You set the prices, hold the stock and pack the orders. A basket carrying two shops becomes two orders, so nothing of yours is bundled into somebody else’s delivery.
Finish the platform’s course in your category and the badge sits beside your name wherever customers see you. It is never taken away, even when the syllabus grows.
Hand a delivery to the drivers on the platform and watch it through to the handover, or run it yourself and mark it off. Both routes are on the same screen.
